Our Nauseating Ruling Elite

21 Mar

It really, really is getting time for a revolution:

In yet another amazing case of tax chutzpah: California congressman Pete Stark has improperly claimed a Maryland lakefront home (assessed at $1.7 million) as his primary residence in order to qualify for a special real estate tax break:

A senior member of the House’s tax-writing Ways and Means Committee, Stark said he was unaware that he might not be eligible for the tax break. Asked whether it was questionable for him to receive it, he said, “I guess it is.”

To qualify, a property must be the owner’s principal residence: He or she must live there at least six months of the year, use the address for voter registration and driver’s license purposes, and file Maryland income taxes. Stark is registered to vote at his wife’s parents’ address in San Lorenzo and has a California driver’s license…

…Earlier this month, Congressmen Eliot Engel, a lifelong resident of the Bronx, was outed for claiming the Maryland real estate tax break on his Maryland home (formerly owned by ABC’s Ted Koppel and Wonder Woman Lynda Carter) assessed at $938,000.

Both are Democrats, naturally – but, more importantly, here is the evidence that our leaders are entirely disconnected from us and no matter how much they say they care about Joe and Jane Average, what they are really all about is increasing their own power and wealth. Both Stark and Engel should be immediately expelled from the House as our Constitution requires a Representative to be a resident of the district he represents…anyone want to take bets on whether or not Queen Nancy I will move for said expulsion?

Unfortunately, changing this is going to be entirely upon conservatism – our liberals simply will not admit that they have a problem, and if they do concede the point they are very unlikely to understand that the reason hatred is whipped up over people like Governor Palin is because the ruling elite perceives such people as a threat. Palin is one of us, and she wouldn’t put up with the sort of nonsense going on in DC…Jindal, also, is one of us. There are some Democrats on our side – the eleven who voted in the House against the Spendulus are Democrats who understand that the people’s business isn’t bailing out failed banks or providing payoffs for corrupt special interests of whatever party. And we must nor forget that some GOPers are very much part of the problem (Senator Specter, we’re looking your way…).

A little revolution, now and then, really is a good thing – and what we need is a top to bottom reform of government; a re-affirmation of core, Constitutional principles; a new birth of freedom in America…and we’re only going to get this if we cut like a scythe through the current ruling class at election time.

GOP Fundraising Up

21 Mar

Another tea leaf for us political junkies to read:

Republicans topped Democrats in national fundraising in February, according to numbers released Friday that show surprisingly poor results for the party now in control of the White House and both houses of Congress.

The Democratic National Committee raised only $3.26 million in February, the first month under its new chairman, former Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, according to the February campaign finance reports. Two years ago, under Chairman Howard Dean, the committee raised $5.5 million in February.

The Republican National Committee, on the other hand, pulled in $5.1 million last month, giving a boost to new Chairman Michael Steele after a rocky first few weeks of his tenure.

The DNC reported $8.6 million on hand and $7 million in debt, while the RNC reported $24 million in the bank and no debt.

Money is the sinew of politics – it allows you to choose your strategy and carry it out…as Obama and his Democrats showed with their massive fundraising in 2008. Now, given that a lot of Obama/Democrat funding was illegal, we can expect that in 2010 and beyond they’ll continue to raise funds any way they can…so, we really can’t expect to out-spend them…but we can raise the funds necessary to go toe to toe with them.

More Nukes is Good Nukes

21 Mar

Per Gallup, at any rate:

A majority of Americans have been supportive of the use of nuclear energy in the United States in recent years, but this year’s Gallup Environment Poll finds new high levels of support, with 59% favoring its use, including 27% who strongly favor it.

Obama won’t move on this because his energy mind is entirely in the keeping of the kook environmentalist left – so, America will suffer with less energy than it easily could have…and, of course, we GOPers get another nifty issue handed to us on a silver platter, especially if Obama’s “carbon tax” passes and peoples’ heating and cooling bills skyrocket.

Comandante Obama

21 Mar

Read it, and be warned:

“But you don’t understand,” the Colombian said. “We’ve seen this before.”

“He’s right, my good friend,” the Cuban said. “We Latin Americans know the pattern. Believe me we do.”

The American tried to shrug off the Latin Americans’ warning. To his consternation, he found that he couldn’t. Peron, Fidel, now Chavez, they insisted. The emergence of misrule, corruption and economic stagnation in Latin American nations follows a particular sequence or progression. Now the sequence was unfolding in the United States.

“It starts with a cult of personality,” the Cuban explained. “One man declares himself the jefe, the caudillo, the big leader.”

Do keep in mind that the man who accepts his party’s nomination in front of 80,000 people has a problem with megalomania. Add in servile followers and a fawning media, and we can have lots of problems…unless we nip this in the bud in November of 2010.

Governor Palin Rejects Spendulus Funds

20 Mar

Its getting nicer and nicer to be part of a Party with some backbone…as well as drop-dead gorgeous governors:

Governor Sarah Palin submitted her federal economic stimulus appropriation bill to legislators today to provide jobs and needed infrastructure improvements in Alaska under the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Governor Palin is accepting just 55 percent of the available stimulus funds, all for capital projects. This amount includes the funds the state accepted last month for Department of Transportation projects.

“We will request federal stimulus funds for capital projects that will create new jobs and expand the economy,” Governor Palin said. “We won’t be bound by federal strings in exchange for dollars, nor will we dig ourselves a deeper hole in two years when these federal funds are gone. For instance, in order to accept what look like attractive energy funds, our local communities would be required to adopt uniform building codes. Government would then be required to police those codes. These types of funds are not sensible for Alaska.”

And, liberals, I understand that Governor Palin is still all about shooting wolves from helicopters…and I understand, further, that she’s still Christian and all that. And she’s smarter than your Obama, by a large amount. So is Jindal.

2012 can’t come fast enough.

What Media Bias? Part 143

20 Mar

From Powerline:

The New York Times runs a long story on Senator Christopher Dodd’s crashing reputation among Connecticut voters without once mentioning that Dodd is a, well, you know what. The Times does note that Connecticut is a heavily Democratic state. It does mention that Dodd was “once known for championing populist initiatives like the 1993 Family Leave Act” (!). It does identify some of those interviewed for the story as, well, you know what, but never Senator Dodd himself. And it also mentions that “the firestorm has encouraged Republicans.”

Those who can draw inferences will be able to name that party!

Its quite simple – when a GOP runs afoul of law or morality, he’s clearly ID’d as a Republican. When a Democrat does such things, its like pulling teeth to get the MSM to clearly and consistently identify the miscreant as a Democrat.

Words of Wisdom

20 Mar

From IMAO:

Now I guess we get to find out what it’s like to have a president as dumb as George W. Bush sounded.

$9,300,000,000,000.00

20 Mar

That is how much deficit spending Obama’s plans will create over the next 10 years:

President Barack Obama’s budget would generate deficits averaging almost $1 trillion a year over the next decade, according to the latest congressional estimates, significantly worse than predicted by the White House just last month.

The Congressional Budget Office figures, obtained by The Associated Press Friday, predict Obama’s budget will produce $9.3 trillion worth of red ink over 2010-2019. That’s $2.3 trillion worse than the White House predicted in its budget.

Worst of all, CBO says the deficit under Obama’s policies would never go below 4 percent of the size of the economy, figures that economists agree are unsustainable. By the end of the decade, the deficit would exceed 5 percent of gross domestic product, a dangerously high level.

The latest figures, even worse than expected by top Democrats, throw a major monkey wrench into efforts to enact Obama’s budget, which promises universal health care for all and higher spending for domestic programs like education and research into renewable energy.

The figures should make everyone stop for a moment and realize that even if you’re a liberal’s liberal, its time to retrench – to pare down spending to the most crucial basics and get ourselves out of debt. After that is done, we can go into a liberal spending frenzy, if that is still desired. If we go Obama’s route it will mean not just a lot of debt, but an entirely crushed economy in the United States and around the world.

And its not just the money, folks: this will cost lives. Right now, we have a certain level of surplus wealth which allows us to help out, via private and government action, various impoverished groups around the world. As Obama’s crushing deficits make us progressively poorer, there will be less and less available for the most vulnerable around the world – we need to make wealth, Obama wants to soak it all up in deficit spending which will grind down not just the ability to make wealth, but to maintain the wealth we’ve already got.

A human catastrophe is coming our way, unless we can stop this madness by Obama and his Democrats.

The American Tea Party, Part 6

20 Mar

1,000 demonstrations set for April 15th:

While WND has been tracking 170 individual tea parties across the nation, one group has announced it is planning rallies in 1,000 cities and towns on April 15.

The American Family Association, or AFA, is coordinating 1,000 Taxed Enough Already, or TEA, parties to be held at 12 p.m. in front of city halls across the nation.

The organization launched a Tea Party Day website just days ago so volunteer organizers may register their protests with AFA. The website also provides a list of other protests across the nation that are not organized by AFA.

I think we can do it and we should do it – heck, try to get 2,000 demonstrations and 2,000 people at each event. If 4,000,000 Americans take time out of their day to protest against tax and spend liberalism, we’ll have the ball fully rolling on a new, American revolution.

If the GOP Can't Beat Dodd in 2010

20 Mar

…then we’d better just close up shop:

So Chris Dodd admitted he misled CNN, telling them on Tuesday he had nothing to do with the loophole that mysteriously found its way into legislation and paved the way for AIG’s bonuses to be paid. The following day, Dodd confessed to CNN’s Dana Bash that he in fact wrote the loophole, though he said he did it at the behest of the administration and with the knowledge that he would lose the amendment altogether if he did not comply…

…Stepping back for a second, Chris Dodd is already in a bit of trouble in his reelection bid, based on recent polling. Obviously, this further complicates matters. Dodd is now directly associated with two of the most distasteful aspects of the current financial meltdown: getting a sweetheart mortgage from the CEO of a company that was a major player in the subprime mess, and now authoring the loophole that allowed AIG to pay $165 million in bonuses after already taking scores of billions of bailout dollars , all at taxpayer expense.

“Vulnerable” doesn’t even begin to describe Dodd at this point – all we need is a credible challenger and a reasonable message, and we should bury Dodd under a landslide, and make this a pivot point for some large gains in 2010. Democrats are getting heavily tarred with the brush of political corruption, and if we add what will likely be a poor economy (at best) in 2010, a good GOP campaign should allow us to get within striking distance of a House majority and chip down the Democrats Senate majority to the 55 or 54 range.

The defeats in 2006 and 2008 seem to be turning into a blessing in disguise – by forcing out the corrupt elements of the GOP and greatly weakening the RINOs, we are becoming a stronger party more able to effectively present a credible alternative to Democrat corruption and incompetence. We’ll still have to fight very hard as the Democrats and their MSM allies will pull out all the stops, but if we do fight hard, I believe that 2010 will signal the revival of a conservative, GOP favored by the people to govern the country for quite a long time.
