Sorry folks, I’ve been a bit busy… Christmas came early last night.
Her name is Zuzu. She’s a Beagle/English Bulldog mix.
Cute dog….(one on Lt) LOL
bangi (dork from ork) dog
Merry (early) Christmas!! She’s gorgeous
Beagles being bright, loyal, energetic; Bulldogs have the best disposition, sweet and lovable. Outstanding!
I hope she’s house trained, or else … AH! Look Bert, it’s Zuzu’s piddles!
You look like a proud father Matt.
Another good performance from Newt last night, and Mitt also did well. Time to thin the herd, and get Paul, Bachmann, Huntsman and Santorum off the stage, and give the others more time.
Dogs bring a great deal of joy to one’s life, at least they have to ours. I’d like to share a story about one of the 5 dogs we’ve had since the early 70′s. Her name was Misty, and she was an Australian Shepherd mix.
I was attending a weekend fraternity alumnae event at Miami University in December, 1991. On Saturday morning I went to the local Wal-Mart to pick up something that I had forgotten to pack — toothpaste, I think. Out in the Wal-Mart parking lot was a father and his two kids with a big cardboard carton full of 8-week-old puppies; 4 black and white males and a blue merle female. The female practically jumped into my arms. The guy’s kids both shouted, “she likes you” at the same time. It WAS love at first sight, but I told the guy that I was just there for the weekend, and had nowhere to keep a puppy for the weekend. He pointed out his car, and said that if I changed my mind, they lived a couple miles south of Oxford on U.S. 27. Before I headed back home Sunday afternoon, I decided to drive out and see if I could find their house. Fortunately their car was sitting in the driveway. I rang the doorbell, and the dad smiled when he saw me. He said he knew I’d come, and that the little female was the only one left. She lived to be just a few months shy of 16, and was the best frisbee dog we’ve ever had.
Little did we know at the time, but that dog grew to become Prime Minister of England; Winston Churchill, and that parking lot was to become Buckingham Palace!
And now you know, the rest of the story.
Very nice early Christmas present, Matt…
Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!
how is the KOI pond coming??
The pond is all finished, finally! Except that I’m going to have to invest in a heavier liner for this coming Spring…I ran into problems with the first liner with pin-holes. There’s a lot of shale fill where I dug and it is really sharp on the edges, so there was no way that the liner I got was going to do the job, with the weight of all that water. So, I’m going to get a 40 mil liner this coming Spring.
Got the 2 baby koi in an ornamental holding/quarantine pond of 90 gallons…was really in a hurry to get them…I hope they survive the cold winter we have here. Too, they are growing fast! And will soon outgrow such a small residence. I will have to work fast in the Spring to get them ready for their permanent home. They’re really pretty, though…one is solid orange…not sure what to name her, and the other is a calico color…white/black/orange…going to name him “patches.”
And well, working on getting that buck this week … comes every year to coincide with Thanksgiving week!! So hoping to tag a nice one!!
Happy Thanksgiving to you, as well!!
Thank you for your service to our country, and to all your comrades in arms, past/present/and future, who fought, are fighting, and will fight to defend our freedom!! I SALUTE` you!!!
God bless all of you!!!
Im seeing an 8 pointer for you.
8-pointer would be nice…I think there may be an 8 hidin’ around here somewhere…but it’ll have to quiet a lil’ bit for him to feel safe enough to come out of the bush…they been shootin’ up the place the last four days!!! He will mess up sooner or later though!!!
Jeremiah, the shale will still work its way through and just puncture your new expensive liner. I suggest bedding the new liner in sand, a couple of inches at least, to cushion the liner and provide a buffer zone. I have had to bed my phone and electric lines this way—learned the hard way.
It will also make a nicer, smoother, liner, easier to clean and offering fewer crevices for algae to grow.
Yes, I had taken that into consideration, as well.
I have some sand left over from the mortar-making that I done for laying the stone border around the pond, and a new side-walk. So, yes, I will use the left-over sand to line the bottom of the pond when I line it next Spring. Would also like to get something to use for a buffer on the sides…of course, i don’t know if the outward pressure is as great as the downward, gravity-influenced pressure? At least I wouldn’t think it would be, and I wouldn’t have to worry too much about the walls of the pond.
I measured the total weight of the water (the gallons coming to roughly 4,000 gallons), and there is 8 pounds to the gallon. So it would come out to about 32,000 pounds, or 16 tons. i think that’s incredible!!! The earth is roughly 80-90% water, so imagine the billions of tonnage in water!!! One wouldn’t think that water weighs that much, but it does when it gets into considerable volumes!!!
Anyways, Thank You for the tip, I appreciate it!!!! Any other advice you may have is most welcomed!!!!
Very nice! Many years of romping, healthy, joy!
