Oh, James, this is supposed to be an intellectual exercise, not a temper tantrum. What you say is supposed to relate to reality.

Obama is not only not reelected, the election has not even been held yet. You really don’t keep up very well, do you?

And “immoral”? You really ought to avoid using words when you have no idea what they mean.

An intellectual exercise? Great, that’s exactly what’s needed here. Some flash cards on spelling and conjugation of verbs might help too. Anything at all to bring the reading comprehension up.

A few weeks ago a couple of us here linked the study on conservative values and low-effort thinking from a study published in the journal “Psychological Science”. Some of you didn’t like it very much. Now we have a new study showing Congress speaks at almost a full grade level lower than it did seven years ago, with the most conservative members of Congress speaking at the lowest grade level. http://sunlightfoundation.com/blog/2012/05/21/congressional-speech/ Interestingly the 10 lowest scoring members of Congress all are Republicans. “Gone are the golden days when legislators spoke to persuade each other, thoughtfully wrestled with complex policy trade-offs, and regularly quoted Shakespeare.”

God rest you, Robert Byrd… A word each for Obama and Romney?

    Obama: The President
    Romney: The Wannabe

dolf quotes Shakespeare all the time, and he’s a doofus who can’t carry a thought from one end of a post to another.

You know what tells a Liberal that a journal is “scientific”? It says so on the cover. Oh, it helps if the “scientific journal” can quote a “consensus”—because if several people agree on something, that makes it a scientific fact.

It’s the Tinker Bell approach to science—if enough people clap for something, then it survives as “scientific fact”.

And the oh-so-intellectual Left eats it all up with a spoon and then rushes over to lap up Bill Maher’s slop for dessert.

    • Amazona May 24, 2012 / 8:29 am

Yet this supposedly “scientific” study never managed to actually define “conservative”. Verrrrry impressive “science”, that.

Yes,we know, and we have often discussed it—–the Left, baiting you all with fluffy promises of moral superiority such as really, truly, CARING about people, etc., then has to shore up this smug illusion of moral and intellectual superiority so it has lackeys telling you that you are Leftists because you are just sooooo much smarter than everyone else.

So smart, in fact, that you don’t even understand the ideology beneath your identity.

So smart, in fact, that you don’t even understand the ideology of the demonized Other.

So smart, in fact, that you ——-and your “scientific journals”—–don’t even understand the difference between ideology and identity.

So smart, in fact, that you don’t even know the reality of the actual PERFORMANCE of your chosen ideology when applied.

So smart, in fact, that you don’t know what the Constitution of the United States, the very foundation of this nation, says or means.

So smart, in fact, that while you profess allegiance to the Constitution you simultaneously prattle on about all the social engineering and redistributive things you demand the nation do, completely oblivious to the fact that you are demanding subversion of the same Constitution you just claimed to “believe in”.

So smart that you can’t even see through the false paradigm set up for you by your minders, but instead accept it as absolute fact—that if you are FOR something (clean air?) then the Other, merely by dint of BEING “the Other” is automatically and by definition for its opposite. It’s a crude and clumsy manipulation of emotions, and you are so smart you fall for it every time.

You want a real portrayal of most of the Obama supporters? Watch Jay Leno interview people on City Walk.

You want a real example of conservative intelligence? Watch a high school kid educate his Liberal TEACHER on the 1st Amendment and correct her when she says people can be arrested for criticizing the President.

I spent a couple of hours the other day talking with a cowboy, high school graduate from a small school, no college, who talked with great understanding and interest of the spirited debate among the Founders about the writing of the Constitution—what it should attempt to do, what it should say to achieve this, the arguments and the principles underlying the arguments, etc. ‘Jes a good ole boy, one of the hicks in Flyover Country the Zip Code Intellectuals love to sneer at, and so intellectually superior to the trolls who infest this blog it made me laugh.

      • Cluster May 24, 2012 / 8:33 am

What’s truly laughable is that Dennis posts that study in an effort to come acress as an intellectually sophisticated liberal, completely ignoring the fact that the study itself is a dumbed down version intended to snare people like Dennis and lead them to actually think that they are a cut above.

You can’t make this shit up.

    • Amazona May 24, 2012 / 8:53 am

Interestingly the 10 lowest scoring members of Congress all are Republicans.

Any “study” that has any sentient being scoring lower on any intelligence evaluation than the slow-talking moron from Georgia who so painfully managed to enunciate what he evidently thought was absolutely brilliant repartee—TRAYVON…………….. MARTIN………………….. WAS……………….. KILLED………………….FOR……………………….(wait for it, now…) W …………………….. W………………….. B……………. In………. A…………G………………C…………….. is by any reasonable definition so fatally flawed that it cannot even be considered to have any merit whatsoever. I was surprised that this Congressman managed to figure out the beginning letter of each of his words, he was so stupid.

And then there is LAHK A DAWWWWGGGG!!!! whosis, whose hat alone ought to put her at the bottom of any IQ test.

Sorry, dennis, your bias and bigotry are just too blatant for you to get away with any of this crap.

But the demagogues who put together these “studies” sure know their audience, don’t they? It’s not hard to imagine them sitting in some low-rent hotel room saying “Let’s see what kind of nonsense dennis will swallow this week” and pushing the envelope of goofiness, pretty darned sure dennis will link to their latest effort when it comes out.

    • Retired Spook May 24, 2012 / 11:57 am

Interestingly the 10 lowest scoring members of Congress all are Republicans. “Gone are the golden days when legislators spoke to persuade each other, thoughtfully wrestled with complex policy trade-offs, and regularly quoted Shakespeare.”

So, Dennis, I guess the language in which an argument is couched is more important to you than the actual substance of the argument. That is, perhaps, the least surprising thing I’ve ever heard you say.

  13. Cluster May 24, 2012 / 8:16 am

A few weeks ago a couple of us here linked the study on conservative values and low-effort thinking from a study published in the journal “Psychological Science – Dennis

  16. Cluster May 24, 2012 / 8:43 am

And Dennis, no intellectual pursuit of great liberal thinkers would be complete without including that intellectual heavyweight Al Sharpton. Enjoy:

AL SHARPTON: The other thing is, that what is missing here, which is bothersome to me, is that they don’t attack other Republicans who raise even more serious questions about Bain and his activity as anti-capitalist and anti-free enterprise–only the president.  Are they trying to send a subliminal anti-American message on the president, i.e., the birther strategy and other things they’ve done so far this year?

    • Amazona May 24, 2012 / 8:57 am

      Al actually said “subliminal”?

Got hisself a new speech writer, didn’t he?

Now he jes’ needs a dictionary, so he can look up words like “capitalist” and “free enterprise”.

Oh, that’s right—Al knows his audience, so he knows that he can call a perfect example of both free enterprise and capitalism ANTI-capitalist and ANTI- free enterprise and none of them will have a clue.

      Orwell would be so proud…….

        Romney vs Obama

Did you know that Romney received a dual degree from BOTH Harvard Business School and Harvard Law graduating Cum Laude? Well, it’s about time that someone put an article out there describing Mitt Romney and his background. Notice a really clear difference between Romney and Obama? Here are a few:

        1. Mitt doesn’t have that arrogant, supercilious pose that Obama has

        2. His scholastic credits are an open book…grades, friends, etc.

        3. He doesn’t need a tele-prompter to speak…

        4. He does his speaking engagements to adults not high school groupies

        5. His past friends are visible, and none are anarchists, radicals, or gangsters

        6. He is a religious man, and attends a church which preaches humanity

        7. He has an outstanding and successful background in government and business

        8. He can’t dance, sing, shoot baskets, or skip up the steps of aircraft

        9. He successfully worked with Democrats while Governor

        10. He is proud to be an American, and strongly backs Israel

        do you smell smoke???

but Martin then got on top of Zimmerman and banged his head into the ground, broke his nose, bloodied his eyes and persisted in attacking Zimmerman — and if Zimmerman couldn’t protect himself from further attack except by shooting Martin — he would have the right to do that. (The prosecution has already admitted that it has no evidence that Zimmerman started the actual fight.)

Dershowitz is highly concerned that Corey said her job was to get “justice for Trayvon Martin” but not for George Zimmerman. That, Dershowitz wrote, is not a prosecutor’s job. Nor he wrote, is her job to get a conviction to avoid racial troubles that might arise should Zimmerman go free:

As many see it, her additional job is to prevent riots of the sort that followed the acquittal of the policemen who beat Rodney King.

Indeed, Mansfield Frazier, a columnist for the Daily Beast, has suggested that it is the responsibility of the legal system to “avert a large scale racial calamity.” He has urged Zimmerman’s defense lawyer to become a “savior” by brokering a deal to plead his client guilty to a crime that “has him back on the streets within this decade.”

But it is not the role of a defense lawyer to save the world or the country. His job — his only job — is to get the best result for his client, by all legal and ethical means. …

The prosecutor’s job is far broader: to do justice to the defendant as well as the alleged victim.

As the Supreme Court has said: “The government wins … when justice is done.”

Zimmerman’s lawyer is doing his job. It’s about time for the prosecutor to start doing hers.

        Evidence Likely Means Acquittal
