The last of the Andrews Sisters has passed away at 94. Before my time, of course – but I remember my dad liked them and I’ve seen them in movies. A class act, a great talent – and a symbol of a vanished America.

I was watching part of a PBS show on Big Band singers a week or so ago and they showed a number by the Andrews Sisters. They were before my time, too, but I love them and other music of the era.
I once had a big tough-guy stallion and sometimes I’d take him into my indoor arena and put on a Glenn Miller CD and he would move, on his own, to the music. He blissed out and dreamily drifted along, moving left and right, totally into it. I’d be riding him, of course, and sometimes because I knew what was coming I’d give him a little cue to make a circle or something to tie in with the music, and we’d just have our quiet hour of dancing together.
It was a great era for music, and the last of the Andrews Sisters does mark a milestone.
my mom and dad liked them too, RIP
Great time period of American history.
